Trudge through the snow around Burgusio
Snow shoe hike and ski tour tips for your winter holiday
When the first snow falls on the several hiking trails surrounding our Sporthotel St. Michael in Burgusio, this doesn't mean, that they are no longer usable, because the majority of them are also accessible in winter. Many of the hiking and cycling trails that are popular in summer, are also perfect as snow shoe tours on a winter holiday in the Venosta Valley and develop their own special charm when covered in glistening white snow!
Snow Shoe Hiking Tip: To the Faulen See
This mountain lake overlooking Burgusio can be reached in about 3.5h from our Sporthotel St. Michael. From the information office in Burgusio, follow the signpost to the Gasthof Gerda and then the cycle trail signs along the Adige river to the turn off for Trail No. 8. This path now leads directly to the Faulen See, through enchanting snowy scenery and awesomely silent forests. When you’ve enjoyed enough of the view of the lake, you can continue on the Trail No. 3B to the turn off with the sign No. 4 which leads back along the cycle path and to the village and hotel.
Tip: Upon request and depending on availability, we can gladly provide you with snow shoes and prepare you a snack and hot tea to take with you!
Ski touring on the Watles
Ski tourers are an often and gladly seen guest here in the Upper Venosta Valley! The unspoilt nature, the snowy panoramic view and the joy of fast-paced descents more than make up for the tiring ascent! Popular touring destinations are Cima Upia, Piz Sesvenna, Kälberberg or Pleresspitze, but the Watles Winter Sports Area particularly welcomes ski tourers and has designed its own, wonderful and safe ascent route for you. From the hamlet of Prämajur it leads over the Höfer alpine inn and the valley station of the chair lift to the right of the piste along to the summit.
