Winter holidays in Val Venosta, South Tyrol

Sporthotel St. Michael in Burgusio

During your winter holiday in the Upper Vinschgau, a whole range of experiences can be found in a beautiful snowy landscape. Enjoy the peace and calm of a snowshoe hike or ski tour, make use of the opportunity to glide across perfectly prepared pistes or have a great conversation during an entertaining sleigh ride. Particular attractions for ice skaters, snow kiters and ice sailors are the frozen, snow-covered Reschen and Haider Lakes.

Winter sports at the Haider & Reschen Lakes
Both lakes are attractive for kite surfers in the summer as well as in the winter. During the so-called snow kiting, you are pulled by a stunt kite so you can glide across the snow on skis or a snowboard. Ice sailors will also be indulged in their hobby, enjoying themselves sailing on the ice.
In the midst of the impressive mountain backdrop, with a view of the submerged church tower of Graun, ice skaters and other enterprising guests will enjoy adventures of a special kind.

Pure skiing fun

Glide across the wonderful white pistes of the ski resorts close by, whether on skis or on a snowboard. The ski resorts of Watles, Haideralm, Schöneben, Sulden and Trafoi can easily be reached from St. Michael. Innumerable kilometres of piste and exciting descents are waiting for you.

Ski tour & snowshoe hiking

During a ski tour in the mountain world of the border triangle where Italy, Austria and Switzerland meet, you can discover the nature of the Upper Vinschgau in almost complete silence and get lost in your thoughts, thanks to the impressive panoramic views. Owing to the many marked hiking trails, nothing can get in the way of your snowshoe hike.

On request and depending on availability, we will supply snowshoes as well as a snack and tea to take with you.

Tobogganing and cross-country skiing

The natural tobogganing track with a length of four kilometres through Watles' larch forest is one of the most beautiful tracks in South Tyrol and particularly popular with families with children. You can reach it by walking there or, slightly more leisurely, by chairlift.

In the Upper Vinschgau, cross-country skiers will find perfect ski trails in Schlinig Valley, Langtaufers and close to Reschen.
